Laurent Ferrier Galet Classic Square-Double Balance-Spring Tourbillon

In 2010, Geneva based independent luxury replica watch maker Laurent Ferrier unveiled its first collection Galet with the first model: The Galet Classic Tourbillon Double Hairspring, which also won the Geneva Replica Watchmaking Grand Prix in 2010.

At Baselworld 2015, Laurent Ferrier unveiled the Galet Square, hosting a Micro-Rotor with a natural escapement, it was immediately awarded with the Horological Revelation Prize by the Geneva Replica Watchmaking Grand Prix. On the occasion of SIHH 2016, Laurent Ferrier unveiled a new model, perfect fusion between his two creations: The Galet Classic Square Tourbillon Double
Hairsping.

Inspired by expertise now over 200 years old, the Galet Classic incorporates an avant-garde technique that ensures exceptional precision. It is equipped with a tourbillon device conceived by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1801, complemented by two head-to-tail mounted balance-springs in the centre of the balance. The main advantage of this construction developed by Laurent Ferrier lies in maintaining the centre of the balance firmly on its axis, while compensating for the effects of gravity. This approach guarantees the extreme reliability of the regulating system. The calibre construction is inspired by 19th century chronometry models with their manual winding system featuring a long-blade-type ratchet pawl system distinguished by the delicate mechanical clicking sound emitted during winding. The movement is finished with extreme care, as evidenced by the manual decoration on the tourbillon carriage bridge.

As in the previous version, the Galet Classic maintains its trademark design features inspired by the large 19th century chronometers: the manual-winding system appears without the modern winding-stem pull-out piece spring, replaced by a “long blade” ratchet pawl with a smoothly round-polished finish hand-crafted in the in-house workshops.

This component may be admired through the back of the case, protected by a sapphire crystal that also provides views of the manual finishing of the calibre – performed in harmony with the most demanding standards of traditional Fine Replica Watchmaking. The bridges are adorned with a Côtes de Genève motif, the mainplate is circular-grained, the sharp edges and interior angles are chamfered and hand-polished, and the screw heads are also polished.

Its evolution has been gentle and gradual, like the curves of minerals polished by the waves. The pebble, stemming from centuries of the incessantly repeated work of nature, embodies the purest expression of gentle shapes. For Laurent Ferrier, the Galet is the perfect integration of all parts of a case, as if one were holding a pebble in one’s hand. The whole challenge lay in preserving the spirit of the Galet, and of interpreting this new shape into the initial project without making a break with the past.

Laurent Ferrier humbly decided to approach his original Galet by starting with a blank page. Purpose and design met and mingled under the swift strokes of his pencil, until a whole new shape was reached that is a first in the brand’s collections. Technically speaking, the original Galet has become a square leaning towards a cushion shape. Laurent Ferrier has devoted particular attention to the aesthetic harmony of the model.

The new Galet Classic Square Tourbillon features a subtly decorated white grand feu enamel dial. It is punctuated by a hollowed small seconds at 6 o’clock swept over by “assegai-shaped” gold hour and minute hands, along with a baton-type seconds hand. Like all Laurent Ferrier timepieces, it is perfectly readable thanks to the graphic arrangement of the roman numerals black painted.

The Galet Classic Square Tourbillon is equipped with a black alligator leather strap with Alcantara lining and finished with a pin buckle or folding two blades 18K white gold.

Replica Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller Boréal

Equipped with dual time display, an extremely useful complication when travelling, the Galet Traveller Boréal timepiece from Laurent Ferrier enable the wearer a chance to cross time zones by one smooth move on the wrist. Pressing a push-button brings the time zone up to date.

This new replica watch was developed with the aim of ensuring extremely smooth handling, while also ensuring visual balance, readability and performance in all circumstances – all values dear to Laurent Ferrier.

Positioned perfectly geometrically and delicately integrated on the left side of the case, two oblong push-buttons are pressed to modify local time indicated by a central hand. These two buttons at 8 and 10 o’clock are subtly integrated into the case middle so as to follow the harmonious curve of this solid stainless steel “pebble”. Only a tiny notch designed for a fingernail forms a tiny protruding edge in order to facilitate handling. When moving from one time zone to another, the central hour hand indicating local time may be moved forwards or backwards, in one-hour increments, by successive presses. Pressing the upper push-button advances the hand by one hour, while pressing the lower push-button moves it backwards, all without affect the minutes hand.

In addition to this fast local-time adjustment, the date, appearing in a window at 3 o’clock, is automatically modified when the hand passes midnight, thus spontaneously adapting to transitions between the various time zones. The window at 9 o’clock maintains the reference or home time. Thanks to its 24-hour display, it is easy to check whether it is day or night in one’s place of residence even from the other side of the world.

The dial is enhanced with harmoniously varied tones and textures through associating Superluminova for the chapter ring, a vertical satin-brushed finish on the dial, a snailed small seconds subdial, and a fine slate-grey transfer around the periphery. The small seconds picks up the central theme, thereby endowing this model with a fine aesthetic balance, in keeping with the principles of purity and legibility cherished by Laurent Ferrier. The dial is also graced with “arrowshaped” hours and minutes hands enhanced with Superluminova, and a baton-shaped seconds hand.

The pure aesthetic codes of the Maison have been maintained, but in this 41 mm diameter size, the model is more powerfully present on the wrist than its predecessors. Fitted with a ball-shaped winding-crown ensuring pleasing handling, the back is equipped with a snap-on back ensuring that the movement remains easily accessible to replica watchmakers via the olivette.

Laurent Ferrier reinvents the graphic composition of the Galet Square dial while preserving the distinctive codes of its collection. For this new variation, this so-called “sector-type” dial typical of the late 1930s attractively combines a vintage touch with a highly contemporary appearance.

The Galet Traveller Boréal houses self-winding Calibre LF 230.01, from the famous line of MicroRotor movements with natural escapement. It incorporates the dual time-zone adjustment mechanism as well as the date. This useful complication, that took a full two years to develop, is fully integrated and each part is an integral part of the global architecture of the base calibre.

LF Calibre 230.01 features a pawl-fitted micro-rotor unidirectional winding system, backed by a double direct-impulse natural escapement. The latter, devised by Abraham-Louis Breguet in the late 18th century, is now made using modern technologies that contribute to the exceptional precision of Laurent Ferrier replica watches. The major distinctive feature of this natural escapement lies in the fact that two impulses are directly imparted to the balance with each oscillation. Its excellent efficiency guarantees a high amplitude for the balance operating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

Laurent Ferrier uses a silicon pallet-lever for its lightness and its self-lubricating properties, as well as escape-wheels in a phosphorous nickel alloy known for its extreme hardness, all made using LIGA technology. The main advances of these cutting-edge materials lies in the resulting perfect surface states, as well as strong resistance to both wear and corrosion. The micro-rotor is in engine-turned 18K gold. It is fitted with a “silent bloc” type shock-absorbing system similar to chassis mounting rubbers. The winding device is offset and fitted on the mainplate between two bridges, and fixed between two jewels. This reduces the thickness of the movement and provides a clear view of the construction, while ensuring maximum stability compared with a conventional oscillating weight.

This innovative horological architecture, complemented by the natural escapement, serves to achieve a one-third increase in the winding force of the micro-rotor and thus to achieve an 80-hour power reserve. Its efficiency is thus far superior to the majority of classic escapements and is above all extremely stable over the long term.

The decoration and finishing of the movement are in keeping with the finest replica watchmaking traditions. The sapphire crystal case-back of the Galet Traveller Boréal provides a fine view of the finesse of this workmanship. In addition to the Côtes de Genève motif adorning the bridges and the circular-graining of the mainplate, the sides are manually chamfered and the screw heads are polished. The authenticity of the hand chamfering is perceptible in the clean cut of the interior angles that no machine can achieve and which demonstrate the authenticity of the replica watchmaking art as exercised by Laurent Ferrier.

Replica Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller Globe Night Blue

top end replica watchmakingThis year, the new Galet Traveller Globe Night Blue version joins into Laurent Ferrier Galet Traveller collection, a contemporary timepiece collection intended for globetrotters.

The Galet Traveller was presented in 2013. The new version launched in 2016 takes inspiration from the view of Earth seen by night and features a three-dimensional dial marrying gold and champlevé enamel. Thanks to keen attention devoted to details and to balance, as well as to achieving the pleasing proportions and refined curves characterising the Laurent Ferrier spirit, the model combines perfect legibility with the traditional principles of haute horlogerie.

The centre of this dial is adorned with a convex planisphere depicting the five continents in 18K white gold, surrounded by a blue enamel sea. Crafted using the age-old champlevé technique, the area destined to host the seas and oceans is hollowed out from the material before the enamel is applied. The difficulty of this exercise lies in performing this enamelling on a domed surface serving to reproduce the rotundity of the Earth and in highlighting the central five continent motif. The edge of the continents slopes gently towards the coastlines, displaying various shades of blue.

The three-dimensional effect is reinforced by several aesthetic details. The emerged territories are painted and the world’s cities seen by night are depicted by gold leaf-adorned dots further enhancing the contrast with the oceans. Hand-finished with a circular satin-brushed decoration, the outer gold ring dips towards the central sphere, thereby accentuating the illusion of a raised globe literally balanced on top of the dial.

The unique aesthetic of the model is heightened by the drop-shaped hour-markers whose tips extend beyond the ring, giving the impression that they are literally suspended in the void.

The Galet Traveller Globe Night Blue was developed in such a way as to combine practicality with an overall balance of the timepiece, thus ensuring readability and performance in all circumstances.

Two perfectly symmetrical oblong pushers delicately integrated into the left-hand side of the case serve to adjust the local time indicated by the central hand. When passing from one time zone to another, this central hours hand may be moved forward or backwards in one-hour increments by successive presses. The upper pusher moves the hand one hour forwards, while the lower one moves it backwards, all without affecting the minutes hand.

In addition to this fast adjustment of local time, the date appearing through an aperture at 3 o’clock automatically jumps when the hand passes midnight, thereby adjusting without any separate intervention to the transitions between different time zones. Meanwhile, the 9 o’clock aperture keeps track of the reference time (home time). The 24-hour display provides a natural distinction between daytime and nighttime hours.

The Galet Traveller Globe is powered by self-winding LF Calibre 230.01, incorporating the dualtime adjustment mechanism as well as the date. It features a system of unidirectional automatic winding via a pawl-fitted micro-rotor, backed by a double direct-impulse échappement naturel.

This escapement is distinguished by the fact that the balance receives two direct impulses for each oscillation, thereby guaranteeing excellent efficiency matched by an 80-hour power reserve.

The decoration and finishing are performed in keeping with the spirit of Haute Horlogerie, combining extreme dexterity with artisan-style expertise. The sapphire crystal case-back of the Galet Traveller Globe enables one to admire the exquisite refinement of this craftsmanship. In addition to the Côtes de Genève décor on the bridges and the circular graining on the mainplate, the sides are manually chamfered and the screw heads are polished. The hand chamfering is particularly visible in the finesse of the interior angles, highlighting the authentic respect for the top end replica watchmaking art consistently cultivated by Laurent Ferrier.
